We cater for the UK Countries, IrelandStates of JerseyStates of Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

From this page you can proceed to order an official Government issued Will or Grant of Probate for Scotland.

Wills become public records once the estate has been administered, so anyone is entitled to view anyone's will at this point. This also applies to the Grant of Representation. The Grant will tell you who the Executors or Administrators were (those appointed to distribute the estate). It may also state the Solicitor acting for them (if applicable) and an indication of the value of the estate. However, it will not state the inventory or estate accounts.

If the death was recent, it may be that Probate has not yet been cleared. Consequently, it may be advisable to wait a few months after the date of death before requesting. This most often allows enough time for the admin to be processed but is not guaranteed to have been completed. If there is a No Trace and it is later issued, another order will need to be placed for the document(s).

The standard fee covers a 4 year search (this starts from the date of death or year the applicant has provided). If a longer period is required for searching, this will be charged additionally (you can order multiples in the checkout for longer than 4 year period searches).

If a record is found, the standard fee includes one copy of the Will (if it exists) and one copy of the Grant of Representation (if requested). If the details you supply are incomplete, ambiguous or incorrect and the documents cannot be traced as a result, you will be asked to reapply, giving the correct information and enclosing a further payment.

We cannot accept responsibility for the accuracy of the search unless full and correct details are given that accord with the information supplied on application for the Grant of Representation. If there is insufficient information to make a search, we will duly contact you for further details. Please note that your payment is not refundable in the event of a negative search result as there may not be an entry in Probate and we will have delivered our service of searching (and of course, providing if a result if yielded).

If you are requesting older documents, please note that some of these are in poor condition as they have naturally deteriorated over time. We make every possible effort to produce a legible copy from the documents we access but ultimately a small proportion will be of unavoidable poor quality.

Due to our vast expertise, experience and long running relationships within various organisations, we are able to offer a wide range of service levels to suit your requirements. Please feel free to select the service that is most suitable for your needs from the options below.
